Be patient, good things take time! Many people have said this or something like it to me in the last five years. It is true that beauty can rarely be rushed and there is definitely no replacement for the connections formed with intention over time. But I am not that great at being patient. Like most of us, I want results on my timeline.
Before this experience, I had the idea that a new radically inclusive faith community could be launched, but now I know it must be planted. Glorious gardens require diligence and a steadfast tending to the long view and the bigger plan. They need time and devotion, even when it involves getting in the mud.
This Sunday night during our gathering, the community we are planting will be lifted up and celebrated as a new congregation of the United Church of Christ. Everyone is invited to join us for a celebration and covenanting ceremony! If you aren’t able to attend, light a candle or lift up a pray for what love can do.
Peace to you!
