This past Sunday we held an Ingathering ritual as our first group of members joined our emerging church.
Tonight we pause for a ritual of ingathering, which is a way to communally celebrate a particular coming together in our choice to join this new community.
Each of us have unique journeys, paths with twists and turn, ups and downs. We give thanks for all of the communities of faith and belonging along the way, that have offered us spiritual nourishment and holy refuge.
And tonight we lift up this special new thing, Silicon Valley Progressive Faith Community as the spiritual home to which we commit in this season of our spiritual lives.
In the Christian tradition, the ritual of baptism is the way we are each reminded that we are Beloved and created in the image of God. As individual artworks of the Sacred, we understand that we are part of something bigger, we see ourselves as part of a whole, knowing that we are all broken and our wholeness is bound up together
As we stand here tonight, we will join our hearts in a shared commitment to grow in love.
Deb, Brian, Kevin, Deb and Nicole, do promise to do you best to live up to our covenant and to give of your time, talent and treasure to further the vision of Silicon Valley Progressive Faith Community?
Please say: I will with the help of God.
-To be and become a community of faith and kindness.
-To honor our diversity by supporting and encouraging the personal and spiritual growth of others, acknowledging each person’s unique path.
-To extend and receive extravagant hospitality and to welcome people of all kinds.
-To nurture our inner lives to be more whole, as we live with purpose and joy in a community grounded in love.
-To join one another as agents of social change for the common good, for the healing of our planet and all creation.
-To live in the ways of love, peace, joy, and justice found in in the teachings of the radical, mystical Jesus as well as the wisdom of many traditions.
Everyone shared in a sign of peace.
