Silicon Valley Progressive Faith Community is a spiritual start-up in the South Bay!
Who we are:
We are progressive Christians, agnostics, spiritual independents and other people of conscience who want to live with purpose and joy in a community rooted in love.
We envision a radically inclusive, deeply spiritual, unapologetically progressive, theologically diverse church, actively engaged in personal and social transformation.
More about us:
We are a church, if by church you mean a justice-seeking, peace-making, equality creating, Spirit-guided group of people. We find ourselves turned off by many who speak on behalf of God and faith and morality and values. But we find that we want to live on purpose, beyond the autopilot life. We want to live as if the common good matters, as if the dignity of every human being matters, as if all of creation matters. We want to live knowing we are called to be exactly who we are and we also want to remember that it is not all about us. We are inspired by the teachings of Jesus and the teachings of prophetic poets, leaders, subversives, activists, heretics, artists, and others throughout history. We care about being connected with our inner life, tending to the sacred within all of us and connecting with the Force that grounds our being- a force many of us call God. We want to love ourselves; connect with Spirit and transform the world.
Our Founder is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC), a movement of Jesus followers that has been on the cutting edge for a long time! Our denomination took an early stand against slavery (1700), ordained the first African-American pastor (1785), the first woman pastor (1853), and the first openly gay pastor (1972). Silicon Valley Progressive Faith Community carries that commitment to radically inclusive love into the 21st century. Join us as we seek to bring God’s love into our struggling world!
